City School Hosts Bengal’s 1st Exclusive AI Quiz Contest; GD Goenka School, Dakshineshwar, Bags Champion Trophy

Kolkata: Over 100 schools across Bengal participated in the Smart Bengal AI Quiz Competition, organized by Times NIE and RCCIIT College. The finals were held at the Bhuwalka Auditorium of Shri Shikshayatan School, on Dec 16.

This event marked the state's first-ever quiz competition dedicated exclusively to AI. The initiative, supported by the ministry of electronics; IT, govt of India, reflects the growing enthusiasm of young minds in this emerging field.

The quiz master for the day was Raj Shankar Das. "A truly meaningful AI quiz doesn't simply name a winner — it helps shape a more thoughtful, aware, and intelligent mind," said a student from Barisha Purba Para High School, a recipient of the Judges' Choice Award. The team from Modern High School for Girls, another Judges Choice said, "The quiz taught us AI while sharpening our logical reasoning and critical thinking.

Vinod Agrawal, secretary general of Shri Shikshayatan School, said it was exciting to witness young minds engage with AI, showcasing curiosity and innovative problem-solving. The champion's trophy was bagged by GD Goenka Public School, Dakshineshwar, followed by Central Modern School, Baranagar, as the first runner up and Narula Public School as the second runner up. The winners received cash prizes of Rs 40,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000, along with certificates, medals, and trophies.
