JAMMU, Apr 25: GD Goenka Public School, Jammu, concluded its three-day Model United Nations conference, GDMUN 2026, today, bringing to a close a vibrant platform of diplomacy, debate and democratic engagement.

Held under the theme ‘Accord Over Anarchy’, the conference witnessed participation from students of leading schools across Jammu, who deliberated on pressing global issues through simulated international forums.

The conference commenced on April 23 with a ceremonial opening graced by chief guest Dr Tamana Seth, JKAS. The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by a classical dance performance.

In his welcome address, Principal Arindam Roy Choudhury encouraged delegates to think critically, communicate effectively and uphold integrity in leadership.

Dr Tamana Seth, in her address, emphasized that leadership is rooted in empathy, discernment and moral courage, urging students to act with purpose.

An interactive ice-breaking session later fostered collaboration and camaraderie among participants.

The conference reached its peak today with intensive committee sessions. Delegates engaged in discussions on key global concerns, including international peace and security, energy challenges and women’s rights. Participants displayed strong research aptitude, analytical thinking and negotiation skills while drafting resolutions and presenting arguments.

The closing ceremony was attended by Dr Puneet Kour, Principal of Army Public School, as guest of honour. The event featured a musical performance by the school band. Dean Academics Susmita Roy Choudhury highlighted the significance of such forums in shaping informed, confident and socially responsible youth.

The Best Delegation Award was won by GD Goenka Public School, while the Best School Delegation Award was conferred upon Jodhamal Public School.

The conference concluded with the National Anthem, marking a successful culmination of GDMUN 2026.
