Student of GD Goenka School, Dwarka Wins Maiden Boys' Title at Oriental Cup 2026
Students of GD Goenka School, Dwarka created history by winning their maiden Boys' title at the fourth edition of the Oriental Cup 2026. The tournament concluded after a week of exciting football action at the Dr. Ambedkar Stadium.
With an outstanding performance in the finals, GD Goenka School, Dwarka emerged as the Boys' champions, becoming first-time Oriental Cup winners. The team received the championship trophy along with a cash prize of ₹1,50,000, while the runners-up were awarded ₹75,000. The winning and runner-up coaches were also recognised for their contribution, receiving ₹50,000 and ₹25,000, respectively.
Adding to the school's remarkable achievement, Kaartikya Kashyap Chugh was named the Top Scorer in the Boys' category. In recognition of his exceptional goal-scoring performance throughout the tournament, he was presented with football boots and was also selected as one of the inaugural recipients of the Oriental Cup Scholarship Programme.
The fourth edition of the Oriental Cup marked a significant milestone with the launch of the Oriental Cup Scholarship Programme, introduced to support and encourage young sporting talent. A scholarship fund of ₹2.5 lakh was instituted, with scholarships awarded to ten student-athletes, in recognition of their outstanding performances, potential, and dedication.
The scholarships and prizes were presented during the closing ceremony, celebrating not only the achievements of the participants throughout the tournament but also their promise as the next generation of Indian football talent.
